[00:00:26] Hello, Connor here. How's everyone doing?

[00:00:29] So today I would like to talk about summer in the UK. Now summer time has almost finished, right? I think the 21st of September is the last day of summer this year. So next week, summer will end.

[00:00:46] Did everyone have a nice summer? Did you do anything interesting? I guess it was a little bit difficult to enjoy summer of this year. Wasn't it?

[00:00:56] Of course because of the pandemic. I hope next summer will be better for everyone.

[00:01:02] But what do you usually do during summer? Do you travel? Do you go to the beach? Do you visit music festivals? British people love to travel to hot countries during the summer.

[00:01:17] Actually, I think this is because the UK summer is very, very short. The weather is only hot for a couple of weeks, then it becomes cold again.

[00:01:28] For example, this year it was hot in July for two or three weeks, but in August it became a bit cold. In my city, it was around 17 or 18 degrees Celsius every day in August. So British people will go to Spain, Portugal, Greece, Morocco, or some other warm country during summer.

[00:01:53] Though. Japan is really hot during summer, right? It's like living inside an oven. That's why lots of Japanese homes and apartments need to have an air con.

[00:02:05] In the UK, it's very rare to find an air con in someone's house. Instead, we just open all the windows or we use an electric fan. I don't think I've ever seen an air con in the UK.

[00:02:20] You might find one in a shop, shopping mall or restaurant, but people do not have air cons in their home.

[00:02:28] But anyway, British people also love to go to music festivals in the summer, such as Leeds festival, Reading festival, Glastonbury festival, Download festival, et cetera. There are lots of music festivals in the UK during summer.

[00:02:45] I think people in the south of England like to visit the beach in the summer. Of course, the south of England is a little warmer than the north of England naturally. So it's nice to visit the beach in the south.

[00:03:00] I used to live in a place called Brighton, which is a seaside town in the south of England. The weather is really nice in the summer.

[00:03:09] However, the beach is not so great. Brightons beach is not Sandy. The beach is made of many, many, many small rocks, so it's a little uncomfortable to sit on or walk on.

[00:03:24] However, it has a great atmosphere. And you can eat a nice chippy tea next to the beach. So it's a good place to visit during the summer.

[00:03:34] And if you want to visit a Sandy beach in the UK with beautiful blue oceans, I recommend going to Cornwall. Cornwall is in the Southwest of England and it's a very beautiful place.

[00:03:48] It might be my favourite place in the UK. Actually. It's a little difficult to get there by public transport though. You can take the train from London, but it takes about five hours. So if you're visiting the UK, it's better to drive there using a rental car.

[00:04:07] And what else do British people like to do in the summer? I guess, British people also like to go to the park and play football. Football is a big part of British culture. So it's not really surprising.

[00:04:23] I think that's about all. Maybe.

[00:04:26] And how about you? What do you, or people in your country like to do during the summer? Are there any interesting festivals and are there any summer traditions as always, please let me know by sending me a voice message on Anchor FM.
